VANCOUVER, BC – A documentary produced by veteran broadcaster Peter W. Klein, host of Joytv 10’s current affairs flagship The Standard, has received a prestigious Emmy Award nomination.
The hour-long documentary “Over A Barrel: The Truth About Oil,” produced for ABC News and Joytv, is among the nominees for the 31st Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, in the category of Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting – Long Form.
“Over A Barrel,” which was broadcast on The Standard in December 2009, examines North America’s complex relationship with oil, asking provocative questions about the hidden costs of our dependence on this natural resource.
Produced in Vancouver, The Standard is an hour-long current affairs magazine featuring interviews with newsmakers and personalities from all walks of life, and offering unique insight on a wide range of subjects, including politics, religion and entertainment. Host Peter W. Klein is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist who has produced acclaimed investigative reports for some of television’s foremost current affairs programs, including 60 Minutes, Nightline and 20/20. He is an associate producer with the University of British Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.
The 31st Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards are presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (www.emmyonline.tv).
